Witness & interpretation
The court first confirmed the witness's condition, relationship with the defendants, and interpreter rotation, then explained perjury liability and administered the oath.

Limits of inference and memory
Uncertain dates, matters not seen directly, limited language comprehension, and environmental inferences should be separated from direct observation.
04 · DAILY TIMELINE
The witness's approximate account of the daily routine
These answers are reorganized by time. They do not mean every day followed the same order and are not the court's final findings.
Preparing food and bringing the child downstairs
The witness described the primary caregiver preparing food before bringing the child to the ground floor.
Eating, bathing, and standing
The witness said the child usually ate and bathed in the bathroom and then stood at a corner; some details were based on sounds or environmental inference.
Lunch and living-room activity
The witness described other young children being active in the living room while this child's activity differed.
Returning in the evening
The witness said she still saw the child on some evenings, but not with the same frequency every day.

What citizen and professional judges asked

Days at the home and range of activity
The witness said that from starting work in October 2023 until the grandfather's hospitalization on 9 December, she was at the home for over one week but no more than two weeks each month; while he slept, she cleaned and did housework.

Using a floor plan, the witness identified where the child usually stood and where his feet were moved while he lay down. She said she saw him lying in an unlit area while going to retrieve something from the basement. Asked about her earlier estimate of one hour, she answered: “I guessed.”

Four ways to assess testimony and closing submissions
Direct observation
Living conditions, locations, clothing, and interactions the witness said she saw must still be checked against photos, messages, and other evidence.
Sound and environmental inference
Where a closed door prevented a view, the witness relied mainly on sounds or whether equipment was operating; evidentiary weight is for the court.
Limits of memory and inference
Some answers about dates, duration, where food went, or what others saw were uncertain or inferential.
Parties' closing submissions
The prosecutor, both defense teams, and participant counsel offered views on credibility, sightlines, language, direct observation, and differential treatment.
